Does CBD Contain THC?

Updated: Aug 2, 2020

This is probably one of the most commonly asked questions when it comes to Cannabis. It is a valid question, especially for those who undergo mandatory drug tests for any reason, or those who simply do not enjoy the psychoactive effects of THC.

Cannabis contains chemicals called Cannabinoids. These chemicals trigger the cannabinoid receptors in your brain and are classified in three different ways.

- Synthetic Cannabinoids, which are created in a lab

- Endocannabinoids, which are naturally created in your body

- Phytocannabinoids, which are sourced from plants

When it comes to CBD (or THC), you are dealing with phytocannabinoids. Both provide the consumer with a multitude of benefits, but the major difference is that THC also consists of a psychoactive effect (or high).

While these are the two most widely recognized cannabinoids, there are actually many others that have been discovered, including CBG, CBN, CBC, CBL, CBGA, CBCA, CBDA, CBDV, THCA, and THCV; but more on those later.

While it is common to find products that combine both THC and CBD, you may also find those that are isolated cannabinoids.

True CBD oil is a concentrate of the cannabis plant that is created through different methods of processing, but most commonly through C02 extraction.

So you are still wondering, does CBD contain any THC? In short, no, it does not.

It is important to always check the labeling on your products, but any true CBD product should not contain any (or very little) THC.

You will not experience any psychoactive effects from it whatsoever. You will, however, reap the benefits that CBD has to offer for a variety of different ailments and conditions.

CBD is increasingly recognized for relieving a host of different symptoms including nausea, insomnia, inflammation, high blood sugar, pain, and muscle spasms.

Many patients benefit from its’ use who suffer from MS, Autism, OCD, Fibromayalgia, Parkinson’s, Glaucoma, and many more conditions.

It is no wonder why so many people opt for CBD over several of the other medications commonly prescribed to treat these conditions.

One of the most common methods of use for CBD is a sublingual supplement that is absorbed under the tongue.

There are also many different topical products that can be applied for those who suffer from pain in a specific area of their body due to muscular pain.

Overall, CBD is a great way to relieve a multitude of symptoms and ailments, but remember, it is always important to consult with your physician before starting any new supplementation in your regimen.
